-- Kevin Swayne snagged a 51-yard touchdown
pass from Jeff Brohm on Orlando's first-ever play from scrimmage as the Rage screamed past
the Chicago Enforcers 33-29 before 35,603 fans at the Florida Citrus Bowl Saturday.
Orlando's offensive line formed a solid wall that the Enforcers' defense bounced off all
night. Brohm took advantage of the protection, completing 14 of 22 passes for 217 yards
and four touchdowns. Receiver Dialleo Burks also benefited, grabbing three touchdowns and
53 yards receiving.
Chicago running back John Avery was the highlight of the Enforcers offense, showing
tremendous diversity out of the backfield. Avery rushed for yards and touchdowns on
carries. He hauled in a 68-yard scoring pass from Tim Lester in the second quarter and
zoomed through the Rage's defense for a 64-yard touchdown in the third. Avery rushed 25
times for 157 yards and added 93 yards on 3 receptions.
Although the Rage moved the ball effectively for most of the game, the offense failed to
convert on five extra-point attempts. Chicago tallied on four of their six PAT tries. |
