Mark Brady, who was the second member
of the coaching staff to come on board with the Birmingham
Thunderbolts, will coach wide receivers in the inaugural XFL
season.
Brady comes to the Thunderbolts from the collegiate ranks,
having coached defensive backs and serving as recruiting coordinator
from at Utah State from 1997-2000. He held the same post at
Weber State from 1989-97 and was interim head coach and defensive
coordinator at Bemidji State from 1986-89.
He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Brigham
Young, his alma mater, in 1984-86.
Brady, 41, was co-captain and an all-conference defensive
back at BYU, helping lead the Cougars to four Western Athletic
Conference championships from 1977-81. He was an honorable
mention All-America selection in 1980.
After graduating from Oak Ridge (Tenn.) High School, Brady
went on to earn both a bachelor and masters degree from BYU.
Brady and his wife Karin are the parents of eight children:
James (18), Kevin (16), Kirsen (13), Derek (11), Jenna (9),
Devin (6), Kailee (4) and McCall (2).
