The football blood lines run deep for
Woodrow Lowe, Jr. It was almost as if Birminghams defensive
assistant was destined to coach football. The son of University
of Alabama and San Diego Chargers star Woodrow Lowe, he is
at home at Birminghams Legion Field.
Lowe, who will assist defensive coordinator Don Lindsey and
handle kickoff team duties, comes to the Thunderbolts from
the Arkansas Twisters in arenafootball2. Working with the
offensive and defensive line, as well as linebackers in Arkansas,
Lowe guided the Twisters to the top of all arena teams with
47 sacks last year.
Prior to his experience with af2, Lowe coached on the high
school level at Charles Henderson High in Troy, Ala. (1999-2000),
Central High in Tuscaloosa, Ala. (1998-99) and Selma (Ala.)
High (1995). From 1997-2000 he assisted his father in scouting
at the NFL combine for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland
Raiders.
Woodrow and his wife Zaneta are the parents of one son, Woodrow
III. He was born Nov. 11, 1975 in Phenix City, Ala.
