BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Bolts added linebacker Joe
Cummings to the roster Friday, filling a void left when Patrick
Scott was placed on injured reserve earlier this week. Cummings
(6-2, 242) was drafted in the 10th round by Orlando, but was
released by the Rage after making three tackles this season.
A native of Missoula, Mont., Cummings played collegiately
at Wyoming. Previous professional stops for Cummings include
the Philadelphia Eagles, San Diego Chargers, Buffalo Bills
and Green Bay Packers of the NFL, along with the Barcelona
Dragons of NFL Europe.
Cummings will not be active for Sundays game at Chicago.
The Thunderbolts have activated outside linebacker Fred Perry
in place of Scott, who is suffering from a bulging disk.
Perry has been on the Birmingham practice squad the entire
season after playing the last two seasons with the Toronto
Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Scott ends his
season with 21 total tackles and one sack.
