Meyers truck gets smaller

Chicago Enforcers head coach Ron Meyer was none too happy with his team after last week’s scrimmage with the New York/New Jersey Hitmen. After a Wednesday afternoon encounter with the Birmingham Bolts, Meyer was a little more pleased.

“Last week we made a dump truck load of mistakes,” said Meyer. “This week, we only made a pick-up truck worth of mistakes. The next 10 days will be critical for this team to gel.”

The Enforcers first game is Saturday, February 3 in the Citrus Bowl versus the Orlando Rage and Meyer has seen several signs of improvement over the course of the last few days.

“The offensive line has improved dramatically,” said Meyer. “The running backs performance was also very solid. However, our throwing game needs a lot of improvement. Our quarterbacks got bounced around a little but we got away without any major injuries.”

Defensively, Meyer is still working to find the right chemistry as the team heads into the final week of practice prior to the season opener.

“We are still searching for the right combo of our front seven,” said Meyer. “There were some isolated bright spots on the defensive side of the ball. We also struggled a little with our kicking game.”

The Enforcers will continue to practice in Orlando for the next three and half weeks.
