LAS VEGAS (Thursday, December 28, 2000) – The Las Vegas Outlaws kick
off the new year with 70 players beginning workouts next week at the
team’s Sam Boyd Stadium practice fields. Outlaws Head Coach Jim
Criner and his staff will enjoy their first opportunity to see their
players practice full speed and in pads.
Two-a-day workouts begin on Wednesday, January 3, 2001, with camp
running until Sunday, January 28. Each of the final three Sundays
during January represent roster cutdown dates for the Outlaws and
their seven charter XFL brethren. The city of Las Vegas is also the
host for three other XFL camps, as the Los Angeles Xtreme, Memphis
Maniax and San Francisco Demons also spend January evaluating
players and preparing for the XFL Opening Weekend of February 3 and
4, 2001. The four Eastern Conference teams – Birmingham
Thunderbolts, Chicago Enforcers, NY/NJ Hitmen and Orlando Rage –
will train in Orlando during January.
The 70 Outlaws players attending Training Camp will be housed at
Sunset Station Hotel and Casino in Henderson (702-547-7777), with
all practices located on the fields in the north parking lot of Sam
