Spent 1999 off-season rehabilitating knee injury and coaching defensive line alongside Claymores defensive line coach Jim Tomsula at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina … 1998: Recorded 13 total tackles, nine unassisted, ½ sack, one pass defended and seven special teams’ tackles playing under direction of line coach Jim Tomsula … 1997: Made two tackles... Stunned Monarchs coaches at 1997 tryouts with his 290-pound frame and 4.6-second speed over the 40.

College Highlights
Starred in UK amateur game for various English south coast teams including Division Three champions the Winchester Rifles... Played defensive line, tight end and fullback, but spent the 1997 training camp learning defensive end and defensive tackle positions... Also played for Eastleigh Royals and Bournemouth Buccaneers... Once had a 226-yard, three-touchdown rushing game for the Royals... Began playing at the age of 18.

Nicknamed Daley because of his resemblance to former decathlon star Daley Thompson... Formerly known as Tom Degei but took his middle name prior to 1997 training camp...
