XTREME MAKE SOME MOVES AS MEMPHIS GAME APPROACHES
Feb. 22, 2001

Los Angeles -- The Los Angeles Xtreme waived tight end Kerry Taylor and wide reciever Jason Shelley Wednesday to make room for cornerbacks Reggie Durden and Donnell Day. Day and Durden were both removed from the practice injured list and added to the Xtreme's 45-man roster.

Day has spent the entire season on the practice injured list with a groin pull. Durden who spent the first two weeks of the season on the 38-man active roster for the Xtreme, missed last week's game against the Outlaws also with a groin pull.

Wednesday was the last day the eight teams in the XFL could hold players on the practice injured list. Players listed as "practice injured" were paid the same salary ($1000 per/week) as players on the practice squad even though they were unable to practice due to injury.

Taylor and Shelley spent all three weeks of the XFL season on the Xtreme's practice squad.

The Xtreme have been busy tweaking its roster of late. On Tuesday the Xtreme acquired safety Ron Carpenter from the Las Vegas Outlaws in exchange for an 8th round draft choice in the 2001 XFL Draft. Carpenter, who played in six games for the St. Louis Rams in 1998, played under Xtreme Head Coach Al Luginbill in Amsterdam in 1997.

Friday, the Xtreme (2-1) will announce its 38 man active roster for the team's game against the Memphis Maniax (1-2) scheduled for this Sunday at 4p.m. at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The game will be televised nationally on UPN.
