The Game, Let’s Review: This Sunday, March 18, 2001 at the Los Angeles Coliseum the two best teams in the XFL-the undefeated Orlando Rage (6-0) and the Western Division leading Los Angeles Xtreme (4-2) go head-to-head for the first time this season. Kickoff is 1 p.m.

Road Rules: The Xtreme is the first team in the XFL to win three games on the road. The Xtreme- who played four of its first six games on the road- are 3-1 away from the Coliseum.

Back Home: The Xtreme sit in the driver’s seat in the West, set to play three of its last four games at home. The Xtreme have not won at the Coliseum since its home opener February 10, a 39-32 double overtime win over Chicago.

Spin Doctor Wanted: It’s no secret the XFL has taken a beating in the main stream media and even the first place Xtreme have struggled for acceptance in Los Angeles. Head Coach Al Luginbill has a suggestion for a the league to hire a new spin doctor, “What we need to do is hire Bill Clinton. He’s the best at taking something the media wants to harp on and turn it around. And I hear he’s available.”

Good Weather Wanted Too: For the first time this season the Xtreme are expected to play in what is considered typical Southern California weather at the Coliseum. Sunday's forecast is for partly cloudy skies and a high of 75 degrees. Team X played in the rain and temperatures in 40's in its home opener on Feb. 10 against the Enforcers. In week Four, the Xtreme hosted the Maniax in what only can be descirbed as a monsoon to Southern Californians. The Maniax floated home with an 18-12 victory.

Till We Meet Again: Sunday will be the first meeting between the Rage and the Xtreme, but not the first between head coaches Luginbill and Hall. The two met 12 times in NFLE as the head coaches of the Admirals and the Fire respectively. Five of the last seven meetings between the two coaches have been decided by four points or less.

Local Ties: The Xtreme have five players who made their collegiate homes at the Coliseum as well as their new professional home with the Xtreme. All five are starters and all five spent at one season with one another at USC. The Trojan Five are; Matt Keneley, DE (three sacks); Errick Herrin, LB (12 tackles, one sack, one interception); Jonathan Himebauch,C (staring center); and Chris Brymer, LG (starting left guard).

Stuckey Moves Ahead: Xtreme Linebacker Shawn Stuckey received more attention early in the season for the fact that he was a male stripper in Miami than for his play with the New England and NFL Europe. That has changed. Stuckey lead the Xtreme linebackers with 18 tackles and saved his first save of the season to knock Casey Weldon out for the season last week in Birmingham.

Maddox Gives Back: Xtreme quarterbcak Tommy Maddox who grew up playing Pop Warner Football in Hurst, Texas, will speak this Thursday at the Pacific Cast Pop Warner Awards Banquet at the Radisson Hotel in Culver City. The banquet will recognize the league’s coaches and their contributions to Southern California football. Tommy is expected to address the audience about his career and his experience so far with the Xtreme.

Big Mac Two: Saladin McCullough, fresh off his break through 124 yard two touchdown performance in his first start as a pro, will make his first start at the Coliseum this Sunday. While at the University of Oregon, McCullough missed the Ducks only game at the Coliseum during McCullough’s two year stint in Eugene due to injury in 1997. Saladin is the older brother of the Trojans starting tailback, senior Sultan McCullough.

Penalized less, Win More: The Xtreme have won four of its less five by cutting down on penalties. Penalized eight times for 52 yards in Week One against San Francisco, the Xtreme have been penalized just six times for 55 yards in its last two games.

Nicknames, No nicknames: The Orlando Rage along with the Birmingham Bolts are the only team in the XFL with no nicknames on the back of their jerseys. The Xtreme lead the league in nicknames with fifteen on its 45-man roster. Among the most popular Xtreme nicknames are Jamal Duff’s “Death Blow” and Jerry Crafts “Big Daddy.”
