LOS ANGELES XTREME ONE VICTORY AWAY FROM PLAYING FOR ONE MILLION DOLLARS
Western Division Champion to Host the Chicago Enforcers Easter Sunday;
Maddox, Copeland and McDonald Finish Season as League Leaders

Los Angeles-The Los Angeles Xtreme (7-3), the highest scoring team in the XFL, will host the Chicago Enforcers this Sunday, April 15 at the Los Angeles Coliseum at 4 pm pacific in the semifinals of the XFL playoffs. The game will televised on UPN. The Enforcers (5-5) earned the final XFL playoff spot out of the Eastern Division with a 24-6 victory over the Orlando Rage (8-2) Sunday night in Chicago.

The Xtreme wrapped up the Western Division title by shutting out the San Francisco Demons 24-0 Saturday night at the Coliseum. The winner of this Sunday’s game advances to the XFL Championship, known as the “Million Dollar Game”on April 21. In the other semifinal, the Eastern Division Champion Orlando Rage (8-2) host the Demons (5-5) Saturday night at 5 p.m on NBC.

The team with the best record to advance to the “Million Dollar Game” will play host. For example, if the Xtreme win and the Rage lose, the Coliseum would host the first XFL Championship in league history on April 21. If both the Rage and the Xtreme win, the Citrus Bowl in Orlando would host the “Millions Dollar Game.”

The Xtreme finish the season as the league’ highest scoring team, averaging 23.5 points per game. The Xtreme have scored over 30 points a game a league best four times this season.

The XFL’s regular season closed Sunday. Five players on the Xtreme’s high-flying offense took home individual statistical titles including Xtreme quarterback Tommy Maddox who finished the season as the XFL leader in touchdown passses (18) and passing yards (2,186). Maddox had five more touchdown passes than the Maniax Jim Druckenmiller (13) and 527 more yards than the Demons Mike Pawlawski (1, 659), each who finished second in those respective categories.

Also collecting titles, the most prolific receiving duo in the league, Darnell McDonald and Jeremaine Copeland. Copeland ended the season as the league leader in receptions with 67, 16 more than Birmingham’s Stepfret Williams, who finished second.

McDonald, who missed two and half games this season due to injury, still managed to end the season as the league leader in touchdown receptions (8) and total touchdowns (8). McDonald also finished the year tied for seventh in receptions with 34.

Rounding out the Xtreme’s league leaders, place kicker Jose Cortez, who made 18 of his last 20 field goals, finished the season as the league leader in field goals made (20) and field goal accuracy (80%) while punt returner Damon Gibson finished the season as the league’s top returner averaging 15.1 yards per return.

The Xtreme outlasted the Enforcers in the team’s only meeting this season, beating Chicago 39-32 in the XFL’s only double overtime game this season on February 10 at the Coliseum. The Xtreme’s Tommy Maddox threw a record 65 passes in the victory.

Tickets for Sunday’s Xtreme-Enforcers playoff game go on sale this morning at 10 a.m at Ticketmaster (213-480-3232) and the Sports Arena Box Office. Tickets are $20, $25, and $35.
