XFL GAMEDAY' ON WNBC DRAWS BIG RATINGS
Show Was Second Highest-Rated Sports Program From the Weekend
2/8/01

RUTHERFORD, N.J. (February 8, 2001) – XFL Gameday, the half-hour sports and entertainment show that airs Saturday nights during the XFL season at 7:30 p.m. on WNBC NewsChannel4 New York, drew strong numbers in its debut over the weekend prior to NBC’s XFL Game of the Week.

The first show received a 7.1 rating on Saturday night, improving the time period from last February by 45 percent. XFL GameDay was also the second highest-rated sports program from the weekend behind NBC’s XFL Game of the Week between the New York/New Jersey HITMENÔ and the Las Vegas Outlaws. This week, HITMEN running back Keith Elias is a featured guest on the show.

XFL GameDay offers fans an all-access pass, providing an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at all eight XFL football teams but has a decidedly HITMEN flavor, with NY/NJ head coach Rusty Tillman participating as a guest each week. The HITMEN cheerleaders also play a prominent role in the production.

Popular New York radio personalities Opie and Anthony host the show along with WNBC’s Bruce Beck at WWF New York in the heart of Times Square on Wednesday nights. The show is filmed in front of a live audience and is open to the public.

The NY/NJ HITMEN play their first home game at Giants Stadium vs. the Birmingham Thunderbolts this coming Sunday, February 11. Individual game tickets are still available and are on sale at the Continental Airlines Arena Box Office, through Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and through Ticketmaster Charge-By-Phone at 201-507-8900 or 212-307-7171.
