Rage Acquire Former Florida State Star Sterling Palmer
Jan. 31, 2001

Orlando bolstered its line on Wednesday by acquiring defensive end Sterling Palmer from the Chicago Enforcers for an undisclosed 2001 draft pick.

Palmer (6-6, 280), a former starter at Florida State University, was a 17th round draft choice (140th overall) of the Las Vegas Outlaws in 2000. Waived by the Outlaws, he was later claimed by the Enforcers during training camp.

A four-year starter, Palmer began his professional football career as a 4th round draft choice of the Washington Redskins in 1993. From 1993-1996 Palmer played in 49 games, where he started 44 and collected 10 sacks.

After a two-year layoff, Palmer made his return to football with the New England Patriots in 1999. Palmer later returned to the Washington Redskins in 2000 after signing as an unrestricted free agent during the off-season.

A starter his final two seasons, Palmer was voted most outstanding player and most dominating player by the coaches at Florida State University in 1993.

The Rage opens their season Saturday against the Enforcers at the Citrus Bowl. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. Tickets are available by calling TICKETMASTER at 407-839-3900 or visiting the Rage Box Office at 450 South Orange Ave. Tickets will also be available at the Citrus Bowl on game day.
