The Outlaws offense begins at the QB position with
Ryan
Clement, the former University of Miami standout who
made what he considers his first professional start in
Saturday’s 19-0 win over the Hitmen. By throwing for
188 yards and 2 TDs, Clement demonstrated control of the
offense and has gained the confidence of his teammates.
Extremely appreciative of the professional opportunities
afforded him by Outlaws Head Coach
Jim Criner and
Offensive Coordinator
Vince Alcalde, who also saw Ryan
direct their Scottish Claymores offense during the 1999
NFL Europe season, Clement has regaining his arm
strength and field presence after more than a year away
from the playing field. The former Reebok marketing exec
spent the two winter mini-camps and part of January
battling the Outlaws’ #1 draft pick,
Chuck
Clements, for the top QB spot. When Clements moved
to IR, former CFL and Buffalo Bill
Mike
Cawley moved up the depth chart to the #2 position.
Emergency QB Jim Ballard took the final snap of the game
on Saturday. |
