November 15 - Part 2

Coach LU Says
[A daily dose from the Head Coach of the Xtreme, Al Luginbill]

Today’s topic: How XFL players are different from other leagues.

Coach LU says:
“The free agent football player is nirvana for the coach. He looks at it the same way the coach does. Someone has told them along the line they’re not good enough. These guys have a tremendous amount of desire to prove those people wrong. We are thrilled to give them opportunity to do that and I believe they will. You must also remember that this is a very talented group of players.”

Know Your X
[A player a day drives your Team X ignorance away]

Today’s Subject : Todd Doxzon

Position: WR
Height: 6’0’
Weight: 190
Born: 3-28-75
Nickname: Kermit
College: Iowa St. (1993-96)
NFL: Miami Dolphins (1998)
NFLE: Amsterdam Admirals (1998-99)

Born with the perfect initials for a wide receiver, Todd Doxson loves to play football and that’s why he has come all the way from his home in Pompano, FLA to vie for a spot on the Xtreme.

Todd’s nickname (besides the obvious T.D) is Kermit, a tag he picked up his freshman year at Iowa St. Here’s how. Dripping wet at 150 lbs at the time, Doxson’s teammates saw him riding his bike around campus. The vision of a skinny Doxson on his Schwin reminded his buddies of Kermit the Frog in The Muppet Movie. Although Todd is 30 lbs heavier now and a pro football player he’s still a Muppet to his closest friends. What you will also find out about Todd Doxson is he cherishes his chance to make it with the Xtreme… but let him tell you.

"From all the stuff that I have gone through injury wise. Then I was released by Miami and no other team was picking me up. I didn’t know what was going to happen. Then I hear about the XFL. Being with Coach Lu in Amsterdam gave me an awesome opportunity. A lot of people take you for granted when your out there When you've gone through injury, people releasing you and everything else I went through - you just don’t take anything for granted anymore…”
