The Xtreme activated two of its territorial draft choices Friday, improving Team X’s talent pool on both sides of the ball. Defensive lineman Bruce Walker and running back George Jones both began practicing with the Xtreme this morning.

Walker, a former UCLA Bruin in the early 90’s, played eleven games with the New England Patriots in 1995. An imposing figure at 6-3, 320, Walker threw up 517 pounds on the bench press while at UCLA, the highest at the time (1993) since the school began keeping records of such things in 1983. Practicing at the Coliseum, Walker will not be far from his hometown of Compton, CA.

Jones, a former star at San Diego St., has spent the past three seasons in the NFL. A fifth round draft choice by the Steelers in the 1997 NFL Draft, Jones played in all 16 games in Pittsburgh his rookie year rushing for 235 yards on 72 carries with one touchdown. Released by Pittsburgh the following year, Jones played 12 games for Jacksonville during the 1998 season but played sparingly for Cleveland in 1999.

Standing just 5-9, Jones is a deceivingly strong back with the ability to break big plays. Jones joins a running back corps that is already deep with NFL veterans Rashaan Shehee (Cheifs) and Ken Oxendine (Falcons) plus local product and former Oregon star, Saladin McCullough.

The Xtreme have now used thirteen of its fifteen territorial picks. The Xtreme activated linebacker Brendon Ayanbedejo with a territorial choice on Wednesday. Each of the eight XFL teams have been assigned three schools to chose its territorial draft choices from. The Xtreme were assigned UCLA, USC, and San Diego St.
