LA Xtreme are on the air with KLSX
Announce one year deal with 97.1 FM (Xtreme cheerleaders make first public appearance) - Part 1

Xtreme Play-by-Play announcer Geoff Nathanson introduces the LA Cheerleaders as first his official duty. The Los Angeles Xtreme will share the air with radio kings Howard Stern and Tom Leykis in Southern California. With its first cheerleading team in franchise history leading the charge Monday afternoon at the House of Blues, the Xtreme announced that KLSX 97.1, “The FM Talk Station” will carry all ten of the regular season games for the team’s inaugural season.

“We are thrilled to be on board with the Xtreme,” said Jack Silver, KLSX Program Director.

“KLSX is excited to continue our tradition of sports programming on the week-ends. This league is going to be something special. We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor.”

The home to nationally syndicated personalities Howard Stern and Tom Leykis, 97.1 is no stranger to sports programming. “The FM Talk Station” is currently the home in Los Angeles to the NFL’s Sunday Night Football broadcasts.

The Xtreme and KLSX have agreed to a one year deal for radio coverage of Xtreme games. 97.1 will also carry play-off games if necessary.

Geoff Nathanson has been chosen to be the play-by-play voice of the Xtreme. Entering his sixteenth year as a broadcaster, Nathanson has done national college football and basketball play-by-play for the past eight years. Listeners in Southern California will recognize Nathanson from his extensive work on KNX 1070 and XTRA 690. A color analyst for the Xtreme broadcasts has not yet been selected.

Fox Sports interviews Xtreme cheerleader Bonnie-Jill Laflin. Plenty of media was on hand to cover the event, including - E! Entertainment Television; Entertainment Tonight; Access Hollywood; Extra!; Los Angeles Times; FOX 11 (KTTV); KNBC 4: KCOP (UPN-13); KCAL 9 The fit between the Xtreme (one of eight teams in the XFL) and KLSX appears to be a natural one. Both the Xtreme and KLSX are popular with the often elusive demographic of males ages 18-34. The Howard Stern Show is ranked number one in both persons and males in every demographic from age 18-64.

Tom Leykis currently hosts the highest rated talk program in the coveted afternoon drive slot. At the Coliseum, home to the Xtreme, ticket buyers will have the option to sit in the Leykis 101 section; there, fans of the Leykis show can sit together and enjoy the game and each other.
