On the Xtreme’s second set of plays with the ball, quarterback Scott Milanovich orchestrated a drive that led the Xtreme down to the Demons one-yard line. The Xtreme would eventually would settle for a 17-yard field goal by Jose Cortez.

Milanovich, the first pick in the first ever XFL draft last October, is competing with Maddox for playing time at quarterback. Both played equal amounts during the scrimmage, each taking the snaps on one 15-play series while splitting the Xtreme’s third 15-play series in half.

“Considering the conditions, I thought the offense was pretty impressive,” said Milanovich. “We didn’t fumble one snap and I though the protection was excellent. I got hit one time all day.”

The highlight of the drive was on a 15-yard pass by Milanovich to receiver Jason Shelly. Shelley reached out over the middle to pull the pass in and was still able to hold on to the ball after being nailed by two defenders.

The next time the Xtreme had the ball, Maddox picked up where he had left off, driving the Xtreme to its fourth and final touchdown of the day, a 16-yard strike to Jermaine Copeland.

The animated Copeland, celebrated his first touchdown by grooving his hips to his own drum.

The Xtreme will have a light practice Friday morning, picking it up at full speed on Saturday.

The Xtreme will cut its roster to 63 on Sunday. The Xtreme’s roster currently sits at 67 players. The Xtreme must cut its roster to 38 players on the active roster, plus seven on the taxi squad, on Sunday January 28, 2001.
