Rage Report
Mini-camp notes day 3

On Wednesday, the Orlando Rage claimed tight end Lonnie Johnson from the P.A.S.S. pool…Johnson, 6-3, 240-lbs., played five seasons in the National Football League for the Buffalo Bills…his career stats include 153 receptions for 1,489 yards and five touchdowns…a native of Miami, Johnson played four years at Florida State and was a member of FSU's 1993 national championship team…a spot for Johnson became available when Orlando placed TE Hayward Clay on its refused to report list…Clay is recuperating from knee surgery…WR Gerald Williams had good reason to pay special attention to the 2000 Summer Olympics…at high school in Tucker, Georgia, Williams was a teammate of Dwight Phillips, who competed in the long jump at the summer Olympics…producing World Class athletes is nothing new to Tucker, which also produced 2000 Olympians Angelo Taylor (gold medal - 400 meter hurdles) and Terrence Trammell (100 meter hurdles)…Rage coaches cited wide receivers Scott Cloman (Southern), Si Burley (UCF), Kevin Swayne (Wayne State) and NFL-Europe veteran Mario Bailey (Washington) for outstanding play during the first three days of mini-camp….offensive coordinator Mike Kelly added that former Wake Forest star Brian Kuklick (24th round P.A.S.S., 189th overall) has been impressive… "We didn't have NFL film on most of these players and a lot of our information came from recommendations from college coaches and scouts. Brian Kuklick fit into this category and we really didn't know what to expect but he has been a pleasant surprise in camp."…Running back Derrick Clark is excited about playing for the Rage near his hometown of Apopka, Florida… "My family and friends didn't get to come to a lot of my games with my last team," Clark said in the understatement of the century…for five years, Clark's home games were played in Dusseldorf, Germany as a member of the Rhein Fire (NFL-Europe).
