Demons entertain 6,000 fans during "Possess Your Seat Day"

The San Francisco Demons opened Pacific Bell Park to give Bay Area football fans a glimpse of what the XFL game will hold for the first season at one of the nation’s top sports facilities and a turnout of 6,000 current and would-be ticket holders were entertained on “Possess Your Seat” weekend.

Fans were allowed to inspect the stadium for potential seating locations, watch the Demons practice during their all-team mini-camp and be introduced to the team’s new contingent of cheerleaders Saturday and Sunday.

“The response by the fans in the Bay Area was fantastic,” Vice President and General Manager Michael Preacher said after the weekend “open house” at Pac Bell Park realized more than 1,500 new purchases of season tickets. “We had 6,000 fans come out to see us and we weren’t even playing a game.”

The Demons will open their XFL season at home against the Los Angeles Xtreme at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 4, in the first of five games at Pac Bell Park.

The “Possess Your Seat” weekend served a dual purpose. Fans who already had purchased season tickets were invited to Pac Bell Saturday to review their seating location and request any changes or additions to their order. Those that attended Sunday had not yet made the commitment to attend Demons’ games this winter.

“We have now sold more season tickets than the Oakland A’s, Golden State Warriors and San Jose Sharks,” Preacher said. “And, we are only halfway through our selling process.”

Preacher said it is XFL and team policy to not release exact sales numbers, but did acknowledge the Demons have more than doubled the league’s goal for each team, which is 7,500 season tickets.

In addition to choosing their exact seat locations, fans were able to watch Demons' practice and meet many of the players and cheerleaders.
