Demons re-stock roster for training camp

The San Francisco Demons of the XFL added 10 players to their roster Friday, including linebacker Jon Haskins of Stanford among the Demons' focus on defensive personnel in the supplemental phase of the league's player selection process.

Haskins was a territorial protected player by the Demons, one of four allotted during the supplemental draft. In addition, San Francisco obtained nine other players in the draft to fill its roster back to the 70-player limit, including eight additional players ticketed to play on the defensive unit.

Among the players claimed by the Demons Friday, seven have NFL experience and lineman Mike Kiselak, the only offensive player picked, has played extensively in three leagues since starting his professional career in 1990, including seven starts at center for the Dallas Cowboys in 1998.

San Francisco picked five defensive linemen in the supplemental draft, including NFL veterans Jomo Cousins (Arizona), Eric England (Arizona) and Lemanzer Williams (Jacksonville). The other linemen taken were Pene Talamaivo (Utah) and Barry Mitchell (Idaho).

The other defender with NFL experience taken by the Demons is cornerback Lance Brown (Arizona-Pittsburgh). Also selected were safety Kevin Kaesviharn (Iowa Barnstormers) and cornerback Lance Sutton (East Texas State).

The 10 players secured in the supplemental draft will begin practice with the Demons at training camp in Las Vegas, starting Wednesday, January 3.

San Francisco opens the initial XFL campaign Sunday, February 4, 2001, against Los Angeles with a 1:00 pm PST kickoff at Pacific Bell Park, the first of five home games for the Demons. Las Vegas, Memphis, New York/New Jersey and Birmingham also visit the Bay Area.
