UNBEATEN RAGE TRAVEL TO MEMPHIS FOR SUNDAY XFL MATCHUP ON UPN
March, 2, 2001

STAMFORD, CONN. – The XFL’s East Division leading Orlando Rage, the league’s only unbeaten team, pay a visit to the famous Liberty Bowl Stadium Sunday to take on the West Division Memphis Maniax in a matchup that will be televised live in prime time on the UPN network. The game will air at 7 p.m. ET.

Behind the microphones for UPN will be color(ful) analyst Brian (The Boz) Bosworth, play-by-play man Chris Marlowe and sideline reporters Michael Barkann and Chris Wragge.

Both Orlando and Memphis enter the game off impressive wins last weekend. The Rage advanced to 4-0 behind a 30-6 pasting of Birmingham while the Maniax (2-2 and tied for second in the XFL West) went into the hostile Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and defeated the Xtreme 18-12.

The Rage and Maniax sit atop the XFL’s offensive statistics. In four games, Memphis has accumulated 1,203 yards running and passing, while Orlando has gained a combined 1,191. The Rage offer a balanced offensive attack spearheaded by QB Jeff Brohm (fourth in the league in passing yardage and third in completion percentage); wideout Dialleo Burks (15 catches for 209 yards); and running backs Derrick Clark (league leading four rushing TDs), Michael Black and Brian Shay.

Memphis proved its offensive versatility against the Xtreme in the muck and mire of the Coliseum. Battling both Los Angeles and a torrential rainstorm, the Maniax ran for 166 yards and passed for 207. Leading the way was XFL Offensive Player of the Week Rashaan Salaam. Salaam carried 26 times for 126 yards including a 21-yard TD scamper. He leads the XFL in rushing with 404 yards in only four games. Also having a big game for Memphis was new starter Jim Druckenmiller. Able to grip the slippery ball, he completed 13 of 22 passes for 214 yards and one TD. His favorite target was wide receiver Kevin Prentiss who hauled in nine passes for 100 yards. Prentiss is second in the XFL in receiving yards (316).
