PRACTICE IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC ALL WEEK
Coach
Criner wants to eliminate as many distractions as possible in the
final week before the inaugural Outlaws game on Saturday.
Outlaws officials apologize, but they say that they want to concentrate
on several areas that need improvement. Comments were overheard
about improving the passing game, and that is what the Outlaws primarily
focused on today.
No pads today, and most players were present. Kurt Gouviea
is back and is actively practicing; he said he got his family concerns
taken care of and is ready to focus on playing once more.
Mike Crawford was not in practice today; he was out of town on family
business.
Ryan Clement is still listed as starting QB, and the job appears
to be his to lose. Mike Cawley took a lot of snaps today,
but there appeared to be several miscommunications between him and
his receivers. Clement and Cawley are the only two active
QB's on the Outlaws' roster as of now; Chuck Clements is still on
IR while rehabbing his shoulder and hopes to make it back on to
the active roster this season. There is talk of bringing in
a couple of QB's this week to evaluate, but no word on how many
or who they might be. The Outlaws want to bring in at least
one more QB before the season starts.
The Outlaws defense continues to shine, and this will be their strong
point going into the season on Saturday. Pursuit and coverage
are excellent, as is penetration. |
