XFL Playoff Preview: Rage-Demons DEFENSE

Bill Duff turned up the heat in Week 9 with four tackles, two sacks and a pass breakup. Defensive coordinator Charlie Bailey said Duff has been the most consistent performer of this strong unit. James Roberson stands as one of the league's sack leaders. Andre Purvis and Ben Huff have pitched in to allow opponents just 84 yards rushing per game. Eric England, Jermaine Miles and Abdul-Salam Noah close the gaps in a hurry, allowing just 85 rushing yards per game. England and Miles are the Demons key pass rushers.

The unit's quickness and awareness are big reasons why the Rage hold the best record in the XFL. Shawn Banks was the first-ever XFL Defensive Player of the Week while Patrise Alexander and James Burgess rank among the league's top 10 tacklers. John Haskins, James Williams, Craig Powell, quietly get the job done for the Demons, who finished the regular season with the third best defense in the XFL.

Stephen Fisher leads the DBs with his three interceptions to date. Omar Brown was a league Defensive Player of the Week award recipient and Cory Gilliard is among the league leaders in tackles. Kelly Malveaux and Reggie Doster have each made significant contributions in the secondary. Safety Kevin Kaesviharn leads the group with 39 tackles and three interceptions along side Greg Williams' 34 tackles and INT. Demons are second in the league in pass defense, but this unit must take precautions to prevent the long ball. Four of their opponents' TDs covered greater than 40 yards this year.
